III. MEDICAL CLINIC
Ward 17 - 3 | Palliative care unit
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to be a nurse.
During my training, I joined the oncology department in 1989, when the III Medical Clinic was still in Mannheim-Waldhof. I was involved in setting up the palliative care unit right from the start.
To this day, I wouldn't want to work in any other area. You give a lot of yourself and receive a lot in return from our patients and their relatives.
The greatest thanks we get from them is when our patients say: "We feel comfortable, cared for and taken seriously by you".
For me personally, the most important thing is to always meet the patients where they are in their illness and to support them in their final phase of life, to accompany them and to have an open ear for them and their relatives.
