GB NURSING MANAGEMENT
Intensive
Hello,
My name is Maximilian Ruppert and I am the ward manager on 32-2 - one of the two surgical intensive care units. One focus of our work is the care of patients after major surgical procedures until they have stabilized enough to be transferred. Another part of our patients are admitted after very sudden and drastic events such as accidents, cerebral haemorrhages or severe pneumonia. Treatment on our intensive care unit takes place in a multi-professional team with doctors, physiotherapists, speech therapists and chaplains. Our work on the ward requires a high degree of flexibility and adaptability, as the demands placed on us can constantly change at short notice. This keeps every day exciting and varied.
For me personally, the special thing about intensive nursing is the high professional demands and responsibility involved in treating patients. As a professional group, we are closer to the patient than anyone else and are therefore an important part of the treatment team and often also a mouthpiece for the patient.
