Station 37 - 2
The Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery Center (OUZ) at the University Medical Center Mannheim covers all areas of surgical and conservative treatment of diseases or injuries to the musculoskeletal system.
Ward 37-2 focuses on endoprosthetics, spinal diseases and trauma surgery. In particular, it has extensive experience in the endoprosthetic treatment of the knee joint, i.e. the fitting of an artificial knee joint or knee prosthesis. The knee prosthesis is the second most common endoprosthesis after the hip joint.
The human knee joint is a highly complex mechanical construct. All partial joints can, at least theoretically, be replaced individually with artificial joints.
In rare cases, patients experience discomfort under load and restricted movement after endoprosthetic treatment. These complaints are usually of a functional nature, as the surrounding muscles first have to get used to the new joint, but these patients in particular require our special attention.
