Oncological nursing

 

The INKO consists of 2 full-time nursing staff who advise and support patients in the clinics for surgery/urology/dermatology/neurosurgery and gastroenterology on special topics relating to cancer. They serve as additional contacts in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Contact is offered on a low-threshold basis, with staff identifying and visiting patients independently. In an initial consultation, it is determined whether and what need there is for further advice and whether referral to other services is necessary. Other services may include, for example, nutritional advice, psycho-oncologists or the staff of the nursing service center.

The INKO works autonomously and independently of the ward and therefore has the opportunity to advise and support patients according to their needs. Outpatients have the opportunity to make appointments for personal consultations or to make use of telephone consultations.

Multi-professional oncology nursing rounds/case discussions are held regularly in the above-mentioned areas.

In addition, the INKO organizes further training for employees on oncology-specific nursing topics and organizes regular meetings of oncology specialists in a working group.
