Procedure
The basic training to become a nurse is made up of 2,100 hours of theoretical instruction and 2,500 hours on a hospital ward - a total of 4,600 hours up to the final examination, which usually takes place after 3 years of training.
The 3+1 model project is just right for you if you would like to continue your professional training to become a recognized intensive care nurse immediately after completing your training as a nursing specialist.
By participating in the model project, you can complete further training in intensive care within 12 months of completing your training as a nursing specialist in accordance with the Nursing Professions Act (WVO-Pflegeberufe) . Defined content from the training will be credited towards the further training.
Important for admission to the program and the specialist qualification is the collection and proof of at least 350 hours of experience in an intensive care unit as well as the binding decision to specialize in intensive care in the 3rd year of training
You set the course for further training in intensive care during your training: at the beginning of the third year of training, you decide whether you would like to participate in the 3+1 model. The practical in-depth training of 350 hours then takes place in an intensive care unit. From the third year of training, you will receive a coaching program with voluntary and mandatory components, which will be carried out until the end of the intensive care training.
Voluntary, ethically open support is offered by the hospital chaplaincy for the entire duration of the training, as well as a coaching support program from the third year of training. The aim of this coaching is to support and strengthen personal resources as well as to develop individual stress management and implementation strategies for everyday working life.
In the 3rd year of training, this coaching offer is optional and can be taken up on a voluntary basis during the in-depth assignment on an intensive ward.
The further training takes place as an in-service course and requires a total of 2,135 hours up to the final examination to become a"state-recognized intensive care nurse". Teaching is based on a competence-oriented curriculum with the aim of acquiring and expanding professional competence.
THEORY: The theoretical training comprises 585 hours. Of these, 252 hours from the generalist nursing training are recognized within the framework of equivalence. The recognized content is checked at the beginning of the training.
PRACTICE: The practical training comprises 1,550 hours. Of these, 350 hours from an in-depth assignment from the generalist nursing training, which takes place in an intensive care unit, are recognized. All other practical assignments from the further training are implemented in accordance with the regulation of the Ministry of Social Affairs on further training for nursing professions in Baden-Württemberg.
