WOUND THERAPY
Chronic and poorly healing wounds pose a major therapeutic challenge due to the underlying diseases, resulting in long healing processes and high recurrence rates. For those affected, this often means massive restrictions in quality of life and mobility, pain, social isolation and financial burden.
"Focusing exclusively on the *correct* wound dressing no longer does justice to today's understanding of wound nursing. The causes of wound development or wound healing disorders must first be determined by means of medical diagnostics. This is followed by adequate causal, concomitant and local wound therapy, taking into account the individual patient situation (ICW e. V. position paper)"
In order to optimize the nursing situation of those affected as well as the prevention and recurrence prophylaxis, the UMM Academy offers the training measure in the form of the Wound Expert ICW.
Wound experts are part of an interdisciplinary team that treats chronic wounds. The first step is the doctor's diagnosis, which determines the causes of the wound formation or wound healing disorder. In the further course of treatment, wound experts take over the nursinng of the wound, the wound documentation as well as the causal and accompanying therapy. Depending on their qualifications, they carry out the consultation and therapy independently, document their work and evaluate the success of the therapy.
The wound quality circle (4x/year) and various further training and recertification measures also offer the opportunity to update existing knowledge.
