WOMEN AND CHILDREN

Overview of the department's stations

The "Women and Children" department covers gynecological and pediatric diseases, as well as the perinatal section, but also the wonderful area of support in the development of new life, such as obstetrics, the desire to have children and fertility.

In gynecology, nursing supports a broad spectrum of tumor therapies, treatment of cysts, pelvic floor problems, as well as pediatric and adolescent gynecology: an independent area with overlaps in gynecology.
Pediatrics at the UMM Mannheim ranges from hormonal and metabolic diseases and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract to blood and tumor diseases, HIV, respiratory diseases, neurological and developmental neurological diseases, childhood rheumatism and joint pain, as well as palliative medical care.
On our children's wards, nursing care is required in a special way, because children are not small adults and although they are affected by the same serious illnesses as adults, they require a different kind of attention, treatment and environment.

EDUCATORS

We educators at the children's clinic at Mannheim Hospital introduce ourselves

There is an educator on each ward of our children's hospital who supports or supplements the work of the nursing and medical staff. Depending on their state of health, the children have the opportunity to come to the playroom of the respective ward or are visited by us at their bedside.

Our aim is to create a protected space for the child in hospital, in which everyday life is possible in the form of activities suitable for children and young people. The playroom should be a space that allows children to play together and work creatively with other children as well as offering a place of retreat. Children are allowed to be whoever they feel like.

The focus of our educational work is the child, not the child's illness. It is important to us to support and stabilize the child's strengths and to relieve the parents.
