Ward 11 - 3
NEPHROLOGY
Endocrinology, rheumatology, hypertensiology and diabetology
Ward 11-3 is one of the two wards of the V. Medical Clinic. The entire range of services offered by the V. Medical Clinic includes endocrinology, diabetology, metabolic diseases, hypertensiology, nephrology and rheumatology.
Ward 11-3 focuses on the areas of nephrology, hypertensiology, endocrinology and rheumatology, with 4 beds allocated to gastroenterology. The ward has a total of 22 beds, which are currently cared for by 14 employees. Our team has a wide range of expertise.
As diabetes mellitus is a major issue on our ward and nutritional findings play an important role in our treatment plans, our team includes a nursing professional with a background in diabetology. There are 2 registered nurses in the team who have completed further training financed by the UMM to qualify as "Diabetes Assistant DDG". Here, we support our medical colleagues in prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment by providing comprehensive patient training on what diabetes means for everyday life and what needs to be considered in order to lead a life with as few restrictions as possible. Trainees deepen their knowledge of this clinical picture during their assignment, as inpatient training courses are held on the subject.
The kidneys play a central regulatory role in high blood pressure and long-term hypertension leads to kidney damage. For this reason, hypertensiology is a specialty of our clinic and our wards. Thanks to regular further and advanced training, the clinic has the quality status of "Hypertension Excellence Center", a distinction that we share with only twelve other clinics in Germany.
At this point, the interdisciplinary cooperation with nursing staff and other experts in endocrinology becomes clear. The spectrum of endocrinology topics is as comprehensive as the staff expertise in this area and the cooperation with colleagues in our special outpatient clinics. Our clinic is also a point of contact for people with inflammatory rheumatic diseases. The field of rheumatology includes people with vasculitis (vascular diseases), arthritis (various forms), collagenenoses (connective tissue diseases) such as lupus erythematosus and genetically caused inflammation.
In nephrology, our patient clientele includes kidney transplant patients as well as dialysis patients. There are 2 fixed operating days/week for shunt installations/revisions or the insertion of peritoneal catheters. Due to the variety of clinical pictures with links to other specialist areas, ward 11-3 is an interesting ward for qualified staff who can also specialize through further specialist training (e.g. nephrology training, wound expert, practice supervisor or pain courses). To get a personal impression, we are happy to offer work shadowing appointments on our ward. Our team looks forward to meeting you.
Our nursing concept is area nursing. The trainees are integrated into the nursing department by means of tandem training and thus learn to work responsibly. Patients, visitors, colleagues and trainees meet an open-minded and very friendly team on ward 11-3. Our working atmosphere is characterized by mutual respect and an exceptional team spirit.
We, as well as the medical colleagues from the clinic and all other professional groups involved, always work towards the best result for the benefit of the patient.
We look forward to receiving your application.
