Ward 36-3 | Living Lab
UROLOGY AND OUZ
Inspire Living Lab
Since June 2021, the INSPIRE Living Lab has been caring for the first patients as a pilot ward for improved task distribution with the help of digitalization of task management. This concerns communication between patients and carers on the one hand and coordination between hospital staff on the other. Patients can select and send their concerns via an app from a configured menu.
Such patient concerns are automatically forwarded to the hospital staff according to competence profile, area and workload. For example, if a nurse receives the message "Infusion has run out", they can bring the necessary materials directly to the patient, thus saving walking distances. Another function of the app is the notification of upcoming patient transports, so that patients can be informed in good time and waiting times for the transport service on the ward are reduced.
For all requests sent by the patient, they receive immediate feedback on the status of the request via the system. This promotes patient satisfaction and at the same time reduces the workload of hospital staff. This INSPIRE Living Lab ward uses ideas and developments from German tech start-ups and Mannheim University of Applied Sciences to optimize clinical processes. The University Hospital Mannheim presents itself here as open to progress and new experiences for the benefit of our patients.
