NURSING IN RECOGNITION
PIA at the UMM
The UMM uses the recruitment of nursing staff from abroad to gain specialists.
The integration of foreign nursing staff in recognition (PiA) into everyday ward life is an important part of our cooperation, so that they successfully complete their recognition and find their right place for the UMM as part of staff retention. To this end, we offer targeted induction training: Within the assignment locations, there are defined nursing staff who support the integration of the foreign nurse and act as a point of contact. A colleague* from the ward team is assigned as an integration mentor. Both work the same shifts for the first 4 weeks. Joint leisure activities may also be organized.
The internal and ward-specific induction checklist is used as a guide for induction. An important aspect for us in determining the measures required to promote and develop the PiA is to ascertain the expectations of both the ward and the PiA. Our internal interview forms serve as a guideline for this.
In addition to the integration mentor, a central practical instructor is appointed as an integration officer who, together with the integration mentor / practical instructor of the ward, determines the practical learning content for the PiA.
During the trial period, the PiA coordinator contacts both the placement area and the PiA on a weekly basis to clarify any questions that arise in a timely manner.
Special language training, e.g. on the topics of dealing with patients and relatives, making telephone calls or documentation in everyday ward life, is intensified in a 30-lesson course "Specialist German for special requirements in nursing" specially tailored to the UMM.
The theoretical skills are taught in a one-week introductory block and then as specialist lessons on two days/month by our nursing school and other experts.
These are our offers, large and small, to you dear nursing staff in recognition!
You can't do something great every day, but you can certainly always do something good!
