COORDINATION OF PRACTICAL TRAINING

Teamwork in tandem

Who we are

We, the central practical instructors from the University Medical Center in Mannheim, are a team of exempted nursing staff who look after the nursing trainees in practical training on a full-time basis. We come from a wide variety of disciplines and bring this experience to practical training. We enjoy mastering the challenges that we and our colleagues and trainees face in everyday nursing care together.

What is our goal

We see ourselves as a link between theory and practice. We are therefore the point of contact for the nursing team, the practical instructors on the wards, trainees and teachers at the nursing school.

This enables us to give our trainees and the nursing staff on site a good start and long-term support throughout their training. MIA and MICA Mannheim; our interprofessional training wards are the highlight and the crowning achievement of every trainee in their 3rd year of training and at the same time a very good preparation for practical work as a registered nurse.

Practice without theory is blind, theory without practice is ineffective (Immanuel Kant)

  • We work on an equal footing with the trainees and the interprofessional team. Because we are all equally valuable.

  • We promote working in a training tandem; with the conviction of benefiting from the mutual exchange of knowledge with the training partner at our side and having a good training experience through mutual learning from each other.

  • We live a mutual sense of responsibility, reliability, punctuality and orderliness. Because we are interested in a professional execution of the practical training and want to value the available time together and use it as a learning success.

  • We practice open, transparent communication with short lines of communication. Because we treat each other in an honest, friendly and respectful manner.

  • We show mutual understanding and flexibility in the various training situations. Because everyone can sometimes have a time bottleneck or find themselves in new life situations, which strengthens self-confidence through independent action.

  • We learn and educate ourselves on a regular basis. In order to work according to the latest nursing science findings and thus guarantee professional training.

We see ourselves as learning facilitators. We help people to achieve their self-imposed or predefined goals independently.
